Today's wisdom comes from Fallout 3 where we learn that under no circumstances is giving an alien blaster gun to a 10 year old boy EVER a good idea.

Console commands ftw!

I think I speak for all of us
When I say I understand
Why you folks might hesitate
To submit to our demand

But here's an FYI
You're all gonna die.....screaming

All. We. Wanna do is eat your brains.
We're not unreasonable.
I mean no one's gonna eat your eyes.

I read this quote but forgot the source.

"Twitter is the pet rock of our time."

I think I agree.

I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him.

I was just reading Joystiq's hand's on look at the Bioware Star Wars MMO.

"The demo we played placed us in the shoes of a level 10 Sith named DARTHAWESOME...."

I lost it. Too funny

In other news, still trying to sort out the coffee situation. Got some stuff from Whole Foods - it was much milder. Almost too mild. Wawa has ground coffee, but not beans, so they're out.

I looked at Pike Place but Starbucks calls it "Bold" which is almost sure to be too bold for me.

Sigh.

I don't ask for much from my coffee. I'm not a coffee snob, or of high tastes. I don't want exotic flavors or coffee that has been poo'd by some forest creature. (c.f. Dennis Leary: I want COFFEE flavored coffee.)

I want a good cup of coffee, not too strong, and I want it consistently. I want it to be good every time and the same every time. If I use the same amount of water and beans, I should get the same results.

A few years ago I reinvested in my coffee infrastructure, moved to a grinder, beans, and a decent coffee maker. We had Dunkin Donuts coffee and all was well. But the flavor fell off after a while.

Enter Saxby's. Saxby's is a franchise coffee shop. I note no real difference, functionally, from Starbucks. But I don't like Starbucks. Well, to be honest, I hate Starbucks. Too expensive, and the coffee tastes horrible. Burnt. Icky. Yuck.

There were two different Saxby's in my travels, and I would have occasional things there. But I also started buying beans there. The Kona was a little strong for the wife's tastes, but the Breakfast Blend was fine. And so it was.

Well one of the Saxby's closed some time ago. The one remaining, near home, seems to be having issues. One time I went for coffee, and they didn't have any but had some loose and bagged it up for me. Last time the wife went, they didn't have any. She left a number and they called a couple days later. Yesterday I went, and they didn't have any. They offered to take my name.

I decided it was time for a new plan.

When I see the inventory being understocked, that looks like a sign of a struggling business to me. And hell I don't really feel like having to stop in twice every time I want coffee.

Farewell Saxby's.

I decided to try a mild Starbucks coffee - again Breakfast blend. Blech. Tastes burnt just like every other coffee I've had from Starbucks.

Guess it's back to Dunkin Donuts. Or I wonder if Wawa has coffee beans....

14th-May-2009 03:29 pm - A good quote
Firebird2
"I divide my officers into four classes; the clever, the lazy, the industrious, and the stupid. Most often two of these qualities come together. The officers who are clever and industrious are fitted for the highest staff appointments. Those who are stupid and lazy make up around 90% of every army in the world, and they can be used for routine work. The man who is clever and lazy however is for the very highest command; he has the temperament and nerves to deal with all situations. But whoever is stupid and industrious is a menace and must be removed immediately!" -- Generaloberst Kurt Freiherr von Hammerstein-Equord
